“Good morning”, a lawyer greeted
“How do you know this morning is good”, replied the other lawyer.
This exchange was witness by me 20 years ago when I was doing my pupillage.
During pupillage my master said, “Your job as a lawyer is to take your Client’s nightmare away”. Around the same time other lawyers have said or advised, “Make sure you get your Client’s instruction in writing” – “Always cover your arse, or you will be fried” – “Read your brief not once, not twice but many times until you dream of it” and on my call to the bar a lawyer greeted me with, “Welcome to Hell”.

These words describe our responsibility and obligation as lawyers. The task undertaken to ensure Clients’ protection while dispensing our professional duties, we need always be careful and be ready for any or all outcome.
As Covid-19 pandemic fall upon the whole world, we stood helpless, panic, businesses shutdown, official offices closed, million losing jobs globally, while some lost their loved ones. We were not ready, the world was not ready.

On applying the new norm (post Covid-19 pandemic), this website provides quick-easy access to our firm for existing and new Clients. Send us your legal questions. If the question is a quick fix (not complex), DSLY in a short expand of time will provide you with a reply. However, if the matter is complex or warrants more information, an appointment will be set either remotely (online) or face-to-face. Depending on the question, we will send a reply or legal opinion within fourteen (14) days and we may collect a small fee for time spent by our lawyers (pre informed where chargeable).
With this in mind, let me give a short introduction and welcome you to DSLY website.
Being in the age of internet where everything hinges on efficiency and being paperless, our philosophy is to enhance our distinctive service with state of the art technology such as wireless and online research facility. Even though DSLY is a small boutique law practice, DSLY is committed to high standard corporate related practices, with the hope to emulate the best legal practice tradition in Malaysia and abroad.
“our philosophy is to enhance our distinctive service with state of the art technology…”
Every brief received by DSLY starts with identifying the type of case and course of action. Think of the law as a huge tree with many branches. These branches have different facets of law. For instance, a branch specified as Family law that sub-branches to Divorce and Matrimonial Proceedings, Maintenance of Spouse and Children, Adoption, Custody, amongst others. The branch of Criminal law sub-brunches to murder, rape, theft, drugs, kidnapping and various offences under the Penal Code or other statutory laws such as the Dangerous Drugs Act, Film Censorship Act, to name a few. With the many hundreds Acts of Parliament and of Public Interest matters against Statutory Body or City Hall, there is also a branch known as Tort which sub-branches to Personal Injury, Medical Negligence, Trespass and Defamation. My personal favourite is the branch of Intellectual Property consisting of Copyright, Trademark and Franchising.
Sometime numerous and extensive documents are collected for evidence which are arranged orderly, numbered and paginated into “Bundle of Documents”. The law dictates for evidence in its primary or original form (with some exceptions) and we ensure that documents are safely and property kept once received from Client.
Meetings with Clients, letters and e-mails exchanged on a regular basis or as and when required. “Occasionally there may be heated conversation with Clients but all for the good of the case”
While we may not guarantee a win, we will however do our very best in the ambit of legal frame to strive to the end, figuratively describing “until last blood”. Every case treated with utmost care and respect, speaking prudently, reasonably and plainly to Clients together with forming available options for consideration, all in the absolute best interest of the Client.

Primary documents – (Litigation) Summons, Defence, Reply, Bundle of Documents, Affidavits, Legal Opinion, Notice Before Action/Notice of Demand, Client’s instructed letters and replies (if any) and (Non-Litigation) Corporate Documents, Agreements, Correspondences.
